Helping Hands

Here at Alemany, there are always new clubs forming that support the less fortunate. In events like these, Alemany students are happy to volunteer and contribute to social justice. The Catholic Relief Services Club hosted an event at Alemany on Saturday, October 25, 2014. Students and
staff packed 22,000 meals to be sent to Burkina Faso, West Africa.

The event, known as the Helping Hands Food Packing Event, puts meals together for the hungry. It is an event held across the nation and at many schools. The Helping Hands Food Packing Event brings communities together to support those who cannot support themselves. In just two hours, the CRS Club packed 22,000 meals.

Members of the CRS Club went to four local parishes to raise the money for the cost of the food and the transportation of the food to West Africa. Parishioners at Our Lady of Grace, Encino, Our Lady of Lourdes, Northridge, St Euphrasia, Granada Hills, and St Rose of Lima, Simi Valley, were very generous with their support. The event was also sponsored by Dennis Uniforms, Parker Brown Inc., Cavaretta’s Italian Deli, and the Law Office of Kenneth P. Roberts, APLC, Woodland Hills.
