Community Service

Community service is an integral part of the learning experience at Bishop Alemany High School. There is an expectation that all students will participate in service to the poor and those in need. By learning of and caring for the needs of others, students become “ambassadors for Christ.” The community service program seeks to develop in each student the lifelong habit of caring for others.

Some of the service programs are:
• Tutoring elementary school children
• Alemany Amigos mentoring program
• Habitat for Humanity
• Visiting Retirement Homes
• Hospital Volunteers
• Feeding the Homeless
• Thanksgiving food collection
• Christmas adopt-a-family
• Infant supply drive
• 30 Hour Food Fast for the poor
• Lenten Rice Bowls

"As a Catholic High School, Bishop Alemany is a community enriched by faith that develops intellectually prepared men and women who are committed to promoting a just and peaceful world as conscientious and morally courageous leaders in service to others."

 Homeless Shelter Meals

Students with faculty support and supervision will prepare and serve dinners and lunches for the ~150 guests at the local Sylmar winter homeless shelter on the following Tuesdays.  Any Bishop Alemany student is welcome to participate in the meal preparation and/or serving.
