Bishop Alemany High School will remain closed Thursday, Dec. 7, and Friday, Dec. 8. Stating that Thursday may be the worst day yet, fire and police authorities have asked that people in the vicinity of the fires stay away from the roads to allow for responders to reach affected areas and out of the poor air quality for everyone’s safety on both Thursday and Friday. In addition, the Los Angeles Unified School District has closed all LAUSD schools in the San Fernando Valley on both Thursday and Friday. A large number of our Alemany families, faculty and staff are very affected with everything from evacuation to an unreasonable amount of time to drive to the Bishop Alemany campus. For these reasons and for the safety of all, the Bishop Alemany campus will remain closed Thursday, 12/7 and Friday 12/8.
A number of people in our Bishop Alemany family, including current students, faculty, staff, and alumni are seriously affected by this tragedy. Untold thousands of our neighbors have lost their homes, pets, and their sense of security. Please take a moment to pray for each of them as we prepare to return to school next week.
May God bless you and keep you until we speak again.
