I greet you as the new Principal of Bishop Alemany High School amid this challenging new reality. In my 20+ years in Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, I never dreamed that I would be taking on a new leadership role, and introducing myself to a new community, in a moment such as this. I thank you in advance for your kindness and your patience as together we navigate uncharted waters.
While I am excited to begin the new school year, I also understand many, including myself, are concerned and anxious about what this year may bring with the many changes that are happening due to COVID-19. This year presents unique opportunities and challenges for us all. Our staff is committed to making the best of this situation and ensuring all students are provided with the best education possible.
Daily, we learn new information and are faced with new challenges. To succeed, we must work together to adapt, keeping the needs of our students always at the forefront. This requires quick-thinking and a nimble faculty, able to adjust creatively. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards so that there will be no shortage of opportunities for your student to feel challenged on a daily basis with high quality instruction and have a wide variety of options to get connected to their school and fellow students.
This school year will look different than any we have ever experienced. Things may change throughout the year, and we will need to work together as a family to do what is best for our students, our faculty, and staff, and all our Bishop Alemany families.
Thank you for allowing me to spend time with your sons and daughters this year and in the years to come. I look forward to meeting all of you. I ask for your prayers during this time of transition. And, please be assured of mine for your families as well.
