What is the Esports Club?
A social community based around the common interest of playing video games, that is attempting to enter the competitive scene. We are a social group that brings people together, and helps organize and form competitive teams for community tournaments.
What is the point in a video games club?
Gaming has evolved tremendously since it's inception in the 1970's what was originally a small hobby has become a competitive industry that is projected to earn up to $1,488million dollars in the year 2020.(see graph) This doesn't even include the gross sales of video games themselves, which is projected to reach up to $150billion by 2020.(see graph)
Why should I support my child's interest in video games?
Video Games may at first glance, seem like an unproductive hobby that distracts children from socializing with their peers, and harms their studies through their addictive nature. But video games not only serve as an excellent stress management tool, they develop interests and skills which translate into highly profitable careers in the modern employment sector. Common majors pursued by students who are passionate about video games include: Computer Science($113,180),Marketing($124,850), Software Design($102,568),Game Design($82,240), and Graphic Design($46,900), to name a few.
What Games Does The Club Play?
We currently have active communities playing League of Legends, Overwatch, and PubG. We have formed 2 competitive League teams which compete weekly in community tournaments, and are actively seeking to expand our club teams into other games.
