Campus Ministry News...

New Name at Campus Ministry:

Principal Frank Ferry has announced that the Campus Ministry Office will now be known as The Sr. Elizabeth Anne Sheehy Campus Ministry Center at Bishop Alemany High School.  This announcement came at the “Hall of Honors – 2008”awards luncheon last June at which “Sr. Liz” was honored for her years of dedicated and heartfelt service to the Bishop Alemany Campus Ministry Program.   During her tenure, Sr. Liz developed our student retreat program and laid the foundation for our focus on peer ministry (teens serving teens).

With a new name in place, The Campus Ministry Center staff has been working hard this year to continue to provide a variety of services and opportunities for our community.   Our retreat programs provide opportunities for us to develop our sense of self, to form relationships with others, and to grow closer with God.  In addition, the Ministry Center offers the entire community many opportunities to pray (especially through our school liturgies), to share faith, and to help each other grow in the awareness of God’s presence and the call to serve.   Please check out the Bishop Alemany web-site for more information about our programs.

Helene Silverman Trust Fund

This fund provides scholarships for students who desire to participate in a retreat program, but cannot currently afford the fees.  It was established in 2004 in memory of Helene Silverman, a former teacher and staff member at Bishop Alemany.  Please send your donation to the Campus Ministry Center.  Checks should be written to Bishop Alemany High School, with the “Helene Silverman Fund” noted on the memo line.  Thank you.

Adult Education at the Campus Ministry Center:

Beginning Tuesday, October 7 at 7:00 pm, The Campus Ministry Center will host a weekly Bible Study for Alemany adults.     The focus of the program will be to pray over the weekly Sunday scriptures and to develop our understanding of our Catholic identity.

All are welcome.
