Friends Forever

From March 2nd to March 13th, the Animal Care Providers Club will be holding a collection for supplies. Supplies include: towels and blankets, sealed dog treats, and dog/cat toys (Kong toys preferred). There will be a collection bin in every religion class.

The president of the Animal Care Provider Club, Kelly Frederick, is an integral part of the school. She's the founder of the club, which has over 200 members and normally meets on Mondays. The club works with the
Best Friends Animal Shelter, a no-kill shelter which is home to animals of many varieties. The Best Friends Shelter pulls dogs from other shelters that would have normally been put down and takes care of them until they find a family. There are over 250 volunteers at the shelter and anyone is welcome. The Animal Care Providers Club is the largest service club at Alemany, withholding Alemany Amigos and Key Club. Kelly is a part of other service clubs as well, such as Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Relief Services, Key Club, and Med Club. She's in Christian Leadership and is a member of the Classroom Preparation ministry. Kelly is up for the California Scholarship Federation Seymour Award, an award considered to be one of the highest honors available in California. A few students are selected statewide, and these students compete for the award in a series of essays, conferences, interviews, and speeches. Kelly has committed to the University of Nevada, Reno for nursing.

"Kelly Frederick has a heart of gold. She made me a better person and has made me more selfless."
