Course Description:
This course will pick up where Spanish I left off. We will continue with the different parts of speech and writing, greetings, numbers, colors, calendar, regular and irregular verbs, adjectives, the different tenses, and more vocabulary building.
 
Class Rules:
1. Students must show respect for the teacher as well as for each other at al times.
2. Students are to be in their seats when the bell rings and are to remain seated until the teacher dismisses them.
3. No gum chewing, food, candy of any sort or drink other than water is allowed in the classroom.
4. No electronics (cell phones, I Pods, CD Players, Laptops, etc...)
 
Course Requirements:
Students are expected to complete and turn in any and all assignments given by the teacher in a timely manner. If a student is absent, he/she will be allowed to turn in the work upon their return provided it is accompanied with an excused slip. Participation in class is important and as such materials like the textbook, notebook, workbook, writing utensils and a Spanish-English dictionary are required since they allow the student to more fully participate in any and all activities.
 
Testing Procedure and Policy:
Tests will be administered at the end of every chapter and quizzes will be given as needed. The student is responsible for scheduling any make up test or work with the teacher and after an excused absence slip has been presented. Late assignments will not be accepted. Any cheating, talking or assisting others during a test will result in an immediate fail of the test or quiz.

Español 2 - Tarea
 
Review the verbal activity you began preparing in class during block periods.  You will be presenting your situations on Friday.  Remember, you are to memorize it, no reading from your scripts.
 
Situation:
 
You are a student going to a teacher looking for advice on how to improve your grade.  The teacher will tell you what you need to do.  Use command forms and interrogatives.  Try to use pronouns when possible.  These activities are meant for practice in combining all that you've learned so far.

Prepare a paragraph on each of the following topics:

20 Facts
Latin America Research Project
 
     Prepare a presentation (powerpoint, ms word or ms works) on the topic you drew on 11/6.  Your presentation will be done entirely in Spanish. You need to present 20 facts, or pieces of information about the person, place or thing you drew.
     
     For this project, it is important that you use the preterite and imperfect properly since you will be describing a lot about how your topic was or used to do.
 
     Each fact should be accompanied by a picture (slide).  Sentences have to be a minimum of 5 words.  Your job will be to present each slide to the class.  While you will be allowed to have note cards for your presentation, points will be deducted if the presentation is read entirely.  Remember, I'm asking you to present not read to the class.

Spanish 2 - 1st quarter project....
 
1. Working in groups of 3 you will produce and tape a news program.
 
2. News program must be videotaped and submitted by September 25, 2009
 
3. All members of the group must appear on camera speaking Spanish.
 
4. Video must be 4-5 minutes long.
 
5. You must turn in a typed transcript of your news program along with the video.
 
6. Videos can be turned in either on a cd or flash drive (flash drive will be returned to
you).
 
7. Grading breakdown is as follows:
 
20 pts grammar (sentence structure, adjectives, articles, pronouns, etc.)
 
20 pts vocabulary
     (use of vocab words from previous vocab lists or new vocab learned during project)
 
20 pts conjugation(verbs are conjugated in the proper tense and for the proper person)
 
20 pts pronunciation (sentences are clear and audible, words are pronounced right)
 
20 pts creativity and originality (art work, video design, original idea, etc.)
