INTERNATIONAL STUDENT POLICIES 2015-2016

FOREIGN LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT

The course requirement for graduation is the equivalent of two years of high school language.  International students can take the SAT II Subject Tests in language (Spanish, French, Korean, Chinese) to fulfill these requirements.  This does not guarantee exemption from individual college and university language requirements.

TEMPORARY LEAVE POLICY

If you are planning to leave the U.S. for less than 5 months and return to Bishop Alemany High School, you will need to obtain the signature of the SEVIS Coordinator or an appointed representative from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles on your I-20 to certify that you have been properly maintaining you student status.  The signature for re-entry purposes is usually valid for 6 months.  Please come to the office at least 3 days before you are planning to leave.

Students will not be allowed to leave school before final examinations have been completed.  Students cannot make-up a final exam and will not be allowed to take an early exam.  Please make travel arrangements according to the recess dates.

GUARDIANSHIP

If a student is under guardianship, the guardian will be considered legally responsible for the student.  This means that guardians must provide up-to-date contact information and inform the school if and when, guardianship is discontinued.

If guardianship changes, both parents and guardians are responsible for notifying the school immediately, and must fill out a form that must be signed, notarized, and mailed to Bishop Alemany.

Please refer to the Parent-Student Handbook for complete school rules.
