On April 17th, 2013, Alemany hosted its first track meet in 4 years on the newly finished tartan track. This track was the result of the planning and hard work of both the Alemany track team as well as the new head coach, Michael Wellington. The meet was a success in which the Alemany Warriors won handily against the St. Francis Knights with an 83 to 41 victory. The meet depicted not only the hard work of the athletes, but also the stellar quality of the track. The all-weather tartan track improves upon the previous dirt lanes by allowing athletes to work out during all weather conditions, leading to an improved practice schedule. This improved quality of the track allows for the athletes to work out with less fear of injury. The track is not exclusively for the Track and Field athletes, but is available to all individuals in search of a heightened physical fitness experience. Teachers and coaches rely heavily upon the new track to introduce the Lifetime Fitness and Physical Education classes to new physical exercises that can only be realized with the tartan track, including interval sessions and plyometric body circuits. This new tartan track allows for the students to completely incorporate themselves within the Alemany ideal of mind, body, and spirit.
