On the Air Once Again

On Saturday, January 31st, at 7:30pm in the Lowell Thomas Theatre, On The Air Once Again brings teachers and alumni to perform radio hits varying from stories to songs. The $15 dollar admission will pay for admittance to the show and desserts for some post-dinner enjoyment.
There will be 5 shows performed with various songs from the heyday of radio. Classics like Our Miss Brooks, Gunsmoke, Dragnet, Sergeant Preston of the Yukon, The Bickersons, and an Arch Oboler play will be performed by teachers and alumni along with live foley.

The teachers who will perform have been rehearsing for weeks and will be involved in a multitude of scenes. Alemany's principal, Mr. Chambers, will be playing different characters like Doc in Gunsmoke and a minister in the Mystery Play. Some of your favorite teachers, like Mr. Urbach and Mr. Brown, will also be performing a wide cast of characters. Many of Alemany's alumni will also be performing classic radio hits in between the plays. In total there will be 5 shows and a plethora of classic songs that will be performed.

The idea of a Readers' Theater comes from the era when radio broadcasts reigned supreme over television, far before the inception of the Internet. In the Readers' Theater, the audience will be able to experience what it was like to sit with family and friends and become sonically immersed in a new world. Many of the shows being performed would later become hit television shows.

On the Air Once Again is a booster club program which is aiming its profits towards the improvement of the Alemany Theater. The Drama Club hopes to put the money being raised towards buying new seats for the theatre. Tickets will go for $15 and will include admission and a dessert. Food will also be available to go along with the dessert.

On The Air Once Again will be at 7:30 in the Lowell Thomas Theater on January 31st.
