On April 18, 2015 Alemany was presented the Community Partner In MENDing Poverty award during a ceremony at MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity) in Pacoima.
MEND’s mission is to break the bonds of poverty by providing basic needs and a pathway to self-reliance for families and individuals. MEND serves over 37,000 people a month.
Alemany was chosen for the award from over 100 community partner organizations. In 2014, over 200 students and faculty volunteered with a variety of MEND programs including: working in the food and clothing departments, tutoring elementary school students each week, “adopting” disadvantaged families for Christmas, helping with administrative duties, and holding food and clothing drives.
