Description of Course: This course will cover important aspects of the Old Testament. This course will allow you to learn about various stories that show God's love towards his people. Course Objectives: Students who complete this course will... ...as people enriched by faith, a. be experienced in communal classroom prayer b. have been invited to actively and thoughtfully participate in the school's liturgical life, especially through our celebrations of the Sacrament of Eucharist and Reconciliation. c. have been invited to share the strengths and struggles of their own faith journey. ...as people who are intellectually accomplished, a. be informed of Church teaching about the blessedness of their identity as they are children of God, through study of sacred scripture, the Catholic Catechism, Papal and Church documents, and their student text. b. have been invited to develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills as these are related to human relationships (e.g. dealing with disappointments, sharing feelings, expressing love, developing and respecting personal boundaries, conflict management, awareness of options related to vocational decisions). c. have written and prepared various papers and projects, perhaps involving audio and visual technologies, that reveal the depth of their understanding of the course material. ...as conscientious leaders, a. will have practiced in the classroom the skills related to treating others with respect while holding up oneself as a person of integrity. b. will have helped others, through classroom discussion and activities to identify proper and healthy behaviors and options. ...as morally courageous agents of peace and justice, a. will have learned about the demands of the Gospel to appreciate and respect the diversity within the human (God's) family. b. will have been given opportunities to help others through service projects. The Honor Code To develop a sense of Christian morality, all students, staff, and faculty of Bishop Alemany High School are expected to demonstrate in daily living, on and off - campus, those moral virtues encompassed in the gospel of Jesus Christ. In order to facilitate this commitment, the Bishop Alemany community has recognized that a campus - wide honor policy is desirable. We believe that students have a duty to be truthful and just. Therefore: 1. A student submitting work for credit under his/her name must have personally completed the work. (Using unauthorized materials or advanced information is not being truthful). 2. A student taking a quiz or test must follow the individual teacher's instruction. 3. A student's communication and interaction with others must be honest and considerate.
