Christology (Period 6) Assignments

Bring study guide for final exam to class and be prepared to ask questions relating to the study guide. This will be an opportunity to clarify material for the exam.

Bring Bible to class on block day and for the final exam.

Re-read pages 215-220. Memorize definitions of terms in this section.

Bring in three colored washable markers and several sheets of paper towels. Extra credit: bring a whole roll of paper towels.

Read pages 199 - 201. Complete: "Act" page 201 middle bullet:

1. Create a new metaphor for Jesus that reflects your personal experience and make an illustration of it with a picture from magazine, internet, etc.

2. Provide an explanation of your metaphor on the same paper.

For example: "Jesus is the bread of life". I would use a picture of a loaf of bread and state my explanation as: Jesus is food for my soul which strengthens me, nourishes me and helps me to be a better person and disciple.

Research and prepare a poster board report on one Catholic saint. See attached assignment.

Add a prayer associated with your saint either one he/she wrote or one that is written to your saint for their intercession or help.

Consult the attached grading rubric for your poster.

Answer "Romance Without Regret" movie questions. These are due on Friday. Type for extra credit.

1. What impressed you the most about Jason and Crystalina's presentation?
2. Have you learned anything new and if so what specifically?
3. Was there anything you disliked or disagreed with? Is so what and why?

Read in Chapter 7 pages 184-185 "Honoring the Body".
Complete the assignment on p. 185 in the blue box. It begins with, "Describe a physical skill..."

Test on Monday pages 143 - 152. Study all vocabulary including the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes.

Refer to the powerpoint attached.

Complete "Apply" on p. 145. Read the Ten Commandments on the chart on P. 145 and answer this question with each one: If a person chooses to go against this comandment, where does that path end up? Be specific with an example for each one.

Attend mass or a worship service on one or all of the following days: Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday. Write a two paragraph essay about what you observed and experienced at this Mass. What kind of celebration was it, what happened, something about the readings and music and your overall impression. The more you write, the more your points!! Happy Easter!

Complete Compare and Contrast page 92. Find two pictures of the face of Jesus in art, icons, and popular images. Compare these answering the following questions under each picture. You may download a picture, copy or hand draw.

1. What aspects of Jesus' identity does each image emphasize? In other words, what does this picture tell you about who Jesus is? His ethnicity, his mood or emotions, his position such as teacher, leader, innocent child, etc.
2. What reaction do you have as you look at each image?
3. What do you think each artist wanted to convey about Jesus, and how does each contrast with the other depictions you found?
