Alemany Alum George Matar Accepted into Residency at Case Western/University Hospitals

Congratulations to George Matar (Bishop Alemany High School Alum Class of 2009)! He would like to share the following message with the Alemany community:

“I’m super excited and happy to announce that I got my first choice for residency! I’ve been accepted into a combined residency program at Case Western Reserve/ University Hospital Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio for Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine! This residency position is only available to 1 applicant who applies each year and is 1 of 2 spots in the country! It is a 4 year program where I also will be receiving a free Masters in Public Health degree, and through this degree, can choose a track in Population Health Research which I have really fallen in love with during medical school. This program will allow me to have the mentors and guidance I need to continue growing and building what I have already started in medical school. I want to continue helping medically underserved communities regardless of where I may be practicing.

I want anyone who may be doubting themselves or their abilities to know that dreams do come true. You have to work very hard and make the right connections, which can take time, but with perseverance and patience you CAN do it.”
