The words of Jesus, "the Spirit of the Lord is upon me", began his public ministry in the Gospel of Luke as he stood and read the words of Isaiah 61. Here Jesus identified himself as the one God has sent to bring Good News to the poor, release to captives, sight to the blind, freedom to the oppressed and a year of favor. At Pentecost the Church received this same Spirit and the duty to continue this ministry. Alive in this Spirit, Bishop Alemany is called to a year of favor and to the beautiful service which sets free, enlightens, and evangelizes.
