Yearbook Application Writing Sample Guidelines
Double check spelling! This goes for people's names and events.
  • No first or second person pronouns (I, you, us, we), unless in a direct quote.
  • Article/story text must be in past tense:
    The Warriors went to the football game.
    Some students enjoyed the pep rally more than others.
  • Direct quotes are in whatever tense they were said:
    Morales shared, "I love New York!"
  • When naming people, here are the rules:
    1st mention: Full name (Peter Parker)
    Gwen Stacy (10) played drums for her band.
    Every mention thereafter: Last name only
    Stacy dedicated her newest song to her father.
