Honors American Literature

Tutoring Hours: Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 – 3:00pm by appointment.

Course Description:
This course will provide an in-depth view of the literature and concepts that defines the early eras of America –from Native American Myth to the politics and sentiments of the modern era. Through selected readings, lecture, and discussion, the course will analyze the ideology that creates American Literature. Proper use of grammar will also be discussed and a point of focus. Critical thinking through active participation in classroom discussions is necessary to succeed in this course. The course also focuses on creating a serious sense of responsibility in each individual.

This is the Honors Program, thus all students are expected to act like they belong in it. Honors students must maintain a mature collegiate level of classroom behavior and attitude. Acquiring anything less than 80% in the class will result in expulsion into the College Preparatory (standard) level. 

Grade level spelling/diction and legible handwriting are basic requirements for class credit.
