English 11 A/B (Honors/ CP)
Course Description
The Class Website has been developed with the intention of being a resource for both students and teachers of English Literature and Writing Composition. Within it you will find a variety of tools to help you bring to life the language, the characters, people and time period within our classroom.
The study of the British tales is not just a focus on the text, but it is the understanding of the society each author lived in, the history that influenced (or was influenced) by the writings as well as the affect this has on the individual reader. In studying English Literature, we focus on more than a language, we examine the study of who we are and how we are individuals striving to develop the skills, knowledge and talents which we use to create an awareness for the community around us.
For the Honors student, this is a course that provides advanced junior students an opportunity to rigorously read and analyze the major writers in English literature in preparation for the optional Advanced Placement Language exam in May of their junior year, as well as the mandatory Advanced Placement Literature exam in senior year. Summer reading is required prior to the first day of this course.
