Alemany Celebrates Earth Day - April 22nd

POWER DOWN DAY

Work as much as possible to reduce the electrical load of the school for the day.
  • Classrooms with good window—no lights.
  • Limit computer use in classrooms.
  • Do not show DVD’s—no TV.
  • Up-hold all safety and security codes—but TURN OFF whatever we can.
Use RECYCLED paper for the day’s printing and student-in-classroom use.

Mrs. Martin has much paper that has been used on one side.  She offered to use it for running copies needed for Tues., April 22, rather that “new” paper.

INFORM and INSPIRE.  Alemany Today—on the intercom only—no TV’s.

  • Begin the day with an intercom announcement by Mr. Ferry or Fr. Paul about our responsibility as Christians/Catholics/Human to care for Planet Earth—Stewardship.
  • After the bell to begin each class period, an intercom announcement with a “Save the Earth/Earth Day” tip.
  • End the day (2:48) with a short prayer service on the intercom. The prayer service would be led by students and administration.

Advertise/promote re-filling bottles of water rather than purchasing more bottled water.  Also promote recycling those used bottles.
