COURSE OVERVIEW:
This course is designed to provide the students with theory and practice to communicate successfully in Spanish. Emphasis will be placed on the development of intensive oral exercises with complex structures introduced in Spanish III or bilingual Spanish II, intensive written activities and composition practicing all Spanish tenses, intensive analysis of grammar and syntax, reading comprehension and intensive preparation for the Advance Placement Examination.
This course emphasizes the active use of the language for oral and written communication. They will be able to understand the language spoken by native speakers, of various registers, at a normal rate, and will increase their ability to express themselves accurately and resourcefully both orally and in writing. A wide variety of print and electronic media will be used. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of teaching strategies and activities. The various strategies and activities address multiple learning styles. Students are expected to demonstrate proficiency in the three modes of communication-interpersonal, intrapersonal, and presentational (reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills are integrated daily.) Students are expected and encouraged to speak exclusively in Spanish. Remember, this class is comparable to a third year college course. I have very high expectations of you.
Tutoring Hours:
Tuesdays: 3:00-3:45PM
**Thursdays: 1:35- 3:00 PM
**Wednesdays (1:45-2:45) [this is only when there no meetings]
Noticieros: Please note that each student is required to complete 5 during the fall semester and 5 during the spring semester. Please see the attached assignment sheet for more information.
*Note: Homework/Projects will be posted on www.alemany.org section of "Classwork/Homework"....so please check daily.
In addition, through the semester progresses I will posting important dates and events that relates to this course.
